The production of Finnish Euro coins started in the autumn 1998.
1 cent coins was designed by Heikki Haivaoja and between 1998 and 2013 there was only one small change, when in 2006 mintmark was changed from M (represents the Finnish Mint director, Raimo Makkonen) to Fi.
1 cent coin is not used in Finland, therefore only few were minted for collectors and it's still required by the EMU (European Monetary Union) agreement.
The coin pictures the heraldic lion of Finland.
