The presidency of the Council rotates among the EU member states every six months. The Latvian Presidency took place during the first half of 2015, taking over from Italy and passing it to Luxembourg.

The design shows the official logo of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, designed by Gunārs Lūsis. The logo is complemented by the lettering LATVIJAS PREZIDENTŪRA ES PADOMĒ (LATVIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION) and the website of the Presidency EU2015.LV.
