35th anniversary of the Erasmus program
In 2022, the Erasmus program celebrates its 35th birthday. The program was launched in 1987 by Decision 87/327 / EEC. The name Erasmus is in honor of the Dutch Renaissance humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam, but it is also an acronym for the European Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students. It is therefore an EU program, helping to travel to work, study or training in another EU country. The stay can last from 2 days to 30 days or from 2 weeks to a year depending on the type of project. Since its inception, more than 9 million people have participated, approx. 300,000 every year.
The common coin will be issued by 19 countries, as the "flag" in 2015. Germany issues 5 different coins, for a total of 23 coins.
